Sagittarius is the philosopher learning across time and space, weaving the most resonant threads into a tapestry of practices called “living the good life”.
We walk a path in order. We learn along the way. Source lights the way from within.
There are signs on the path- Caution! Danger Ahead! I was recently in a workshop with local artist/activist Ricardo Levins- Morales who said he had two rules while hitch-hiking across America in his teens. 1) Don’t lie about beliefs, and 2) Don’t get killed. The sky is getting dark and the terrain is difficult. We must move stealthily, keep ourselves safe, employ all of our wiles, and model depth for others.
“Oh vision keeper, bring me a vision
Bring me a vision of the world I long to see
Oh vision keeper, bring me a vision
That I can build with my own two hands in community”
song by Bex Lipps
This new moon is asking us to share the vision. How do you trust in what you see? Include others who are awake in the dark with you. Sharing can ring the bell that cuts through the darkness and offers a way to re-orient towards our common dreams, the vision of the world we long to see.
The fire of Sagittarius is mutable, flexible, and shared. The embers are not shared with a select few, but with everyone who needs warmth. Recognizing each other’s humanity and maintaining a compassionate heart in the face of difference is radical and difficult and only makes the practice more valuable because it is good for all of Earth (Pluto in Aquarius coming in hot).

This is a moment to look critically at the containers we are working within towards the vision. How, where, and with whom is my radical imagination being loved? Hemmed in? Allowed or expanded or challenged? Within boundaries I have set for myself or allowed others to set for me? It can be hard to see the borders clearly, but Sagittarius supports us in seeking them out and testing them. Push and prod. Is this value working for me, with me, or against me in the spiral toward wholeness?
I am looking at the containers I inhabit. The greatest drives in my life are love and joy. My number one question in any situation I find myself challenged/ anxious/ overwhelmed/ bored- What is love asking of me? This new moon is helping me see how my containers (family, care work, astrology, friendship, community, the list goes on!) offer opportunities to live the answers to this question and practice my hopes and dreams as means to wholeness. I want to meet edges with curiosity, whimsy, and discernment and stretch what we believe is possible.
Some of us are looking at values like safety, comfortability, ambition. Do our values point us in the direction of ripe fruit for all? Full expression of our hearts and souls requires some grounding in our innate flexibility and creativity. We can always change our minds, shift our practices, set alignment in motion.
There is energy now for surrender. The caterpillar turns to goo and imaginal cells are activated, the cells that trigger metamorphosis into the butterfly. The imaginal cells do not get activated if the caterpillar refuses to turn to goo. What is underneath refusal to change or immobilization? Fear of uncertainty.
“The whole entire world is a very narrow bridge,
And the main thing to recall is to have no fear, have no fear at all.”
Kol Haolam Kulo by Rebbe Nachman of Braslav
The Great Mystery is inviting us to move at the pace of our souls and we can feel into this with our senses (a gift of intuition we sometimes forget). What brings us joy and pleasure in these uncertain times? What can we make, imagine, taste, feel, create that can express where we are (physically, emotionally, spiritually, energetically) in this moment? How can we allow our wings to take form in the dark cocoon of unknowing?
This energy is intuitive. Source is flowing. We can harness our vision/ideals/values/morals/ways of being into a kind of pact with or oath to ourselves. “In order to create the world I want to live in, here is how I am committing to living now.” And practice! With grace!

We know new moons as gardens for planting our desires; now is the time of the seed. It is a waiting time. It is dark and only stirring. We can dream of blossoms, but they are not here to enjoy. What is here is now! What can we enjoy about this period of patience? Sagittarius corresponds to Temperance- a nibble. We bite off what we can chew with gratitude and reverence.
I invite you to journal this week, sing along with songs that lift you up, practice tiptoeing or otherwise moving stealthily like a fox and find some humor in it, text/call/say something to someone, wink at yourself in the mirror, get hugs or give yourself hugs or comforting touch, rearrange one area of your space and notice how it makes you feel.
Let the fire pass between you and strengthen your love for life, the Earth, and one another.
Love,
Olivia
